GUIDELINES FOR BUILDING PERMITS: (permit term -  2 years)
Sanitary Permit for Proper Sanitary Waste and if plumbing being installed
Zoning Permit (if 1000’ of a lake or 300’ of a river) Marinette County: 715-732-7535
1 Set of Building Plans and 1 Site Plan (can be PDF) Showing Setbacks (one dwelling per parcel)
If dwelling: Plans must show wall bracing , elevations and erosion control if required
and
Energy Work Sheets (Heat loss calculations Usually provided by Heating Contractor)
A Completed application with the following information:
Parcel Number of property (see tax statement)
All Contractors Name and license/cert. number (Plumber & Electrician must be licensed)
Estimate of Total Building Costs
Type of Foundation and Heating System
Building Address
Deck or Garage square footage

SETBACKS:   (measured from the overhang)
Town Roads & County Highway- 63' from center of road
Sides: 25’ aggregate with minimum of 10’
Rear lot lines: 10’
State Highway – 110' from center of highway

PERMIT FEE SCHEDULE:

New Dwelling:   (includes 7 inspections)
$350.00  plus .15 cents per square foot (finished)
35.00  State Seal
75.00  Each Electrical Inspection  (New Service)                                

Manufactured Dwellings:   (includes 3 inspections)
$350.00  plus .15 cents per sq. ft. for any new construction
35.00  State Seal if applicable
75.00  Each Electrical Inspection (New Service)
Install per DSPS 321.40 of State Building Code

Used Mobile/Manufactured Homes:  (includes 3 inspections)   $200.00
1 per parcel
Must meet 1994 HUD standards
Home Inspection and Sanitary permit required before permit issuance
Must be skirted within 90 days    Install per DSPS 321.40  of State Building Code

Relocate Dwelling:  (includes 2 inspections)   $200.00

Basement Only:  $50.00

Additions/Remodel:  (includes 3 inspections)
Up to 600 sq. ft.   $150.00      (add $50 if plumbing)
Over 600 sq. ft.    $200.00      (add $50 if plumbing)

Garages: $150.00 (If Plumbing installed)
Must have sanitary permit, site and construction plan, Lot survey if needed
Final Inspections required
$30.00 (if no plumbing installed)
Site and construction plan required, Lot survey if needed
ALL GARAGES ARE FOR STORAGE ONLY

Decks, Sheds: $30.00
$25.00 for any inspection if necessary
STORAGE ONLY

Raze/Removal –  $30.00

Camper Permit:   $50.00 annually - Payable to Town of Stephenson
(If parked longer than 4 months in the year.   Must have Sanitary Permit from County-  Cost of Fire Number will apply)

Wood Stove: $10.00 - Payable to the Town of Stephenson

Fire Number: $25.00 - Payable to the Town of Stephenson

Driveway Permit: $25.00 - Payable to the Town of Stephenson

Variance: $275.00 - Payable to the Town of Stephenson (use form)

No permit necessary for any interior/exterior cosmetic improvements or any alterations to an existing building which shall not effect a structural change and which conforms to   all other building codes.  Ask your building inspector for verification.

Permit Renewal:  half of original fee

Starting without a permit – per town ordinance

Missed Inspections/Additional Inspections - $50.00 each

Plan Reviews, Early Starts, and Handicap ramps/Occupancy Permits – no charge
